Codi Kirksey is the founder of P1 Sports Media and is a communications and event management consultant whose work intersects live broadcasting, audience engagement, technical administration, event management, marketing, strategic communications, and public and corporate relations.
His professional experience is rooted in motorsports, where he contributes commentary to the National Hot Rod Association's live, worldwide broadcasts for the Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series on NHRA.tv. Additionally, he serves as the principal broadcaster for NHRA drag racing events at Sonoma Raceway, in Sonoma, California. He has also served as principal drag racing broadcaster for Raceworz—North America's premier automotive culture festival—since 2024.
His work spans across many regional and independent drag racing promotions on the West Coast. His understanding of the sport extends well beyond the broadcast booth through experience in competition, automotive technology, journalism, technical operations, and direct engagement with racers, officials, promoters, marketing partners, and spectators. That range allows him to see an event not as a collection of separate departments, but as one interconnected experience.
That experience informs a broad consulting practice spanning commentary, public-address announcing, live production, event management, marketing, social media, partner engagement, and competition administration. Codi is especially well suited to assignments that cross traditional departmental boundaries, where competition, production, communication, promotion, and presentation must function as one coordinated operation. Depending on the needs of the client, he can contribute within a defined role or help connect several areas of an event that might otherwise operate independently.
His work also reaches beyond motorsports. At Southern Oregon University, Codi works to develop his commentary and production experience in a student capacity, providing play-by-play for men's and women's wrestling while contributing to broadcasts across basketball, volleyball, and other collegiate sports. He is a member of the Southern Oregon University Sports Information team that was recognized by the Cascade Collegiate Conference’s 2026 Mike Booth Award for the College Sports Communicators Staff of the Year, reflecting the collaborative standard of the broadcasts and communications he helps deliver.
As a sophomore, Codi became the first—and so far, only—student from the University’s School of Communication, Media and Cinema to be accepted into the School of Business's Accelerated Master of Business Administration Program, entering the program a year earlier than typical for AMBA candidates. That distinction anchors a dual-track education combining graduate business study with a Bachelor of Science in Media Innovation, supported by additional coursework and credentials in digital cinema, online journalism, and professional social media.
Codi takes pride in producing the best work he is capable of—whether the assignment is professional or academic. That commitment has been recognized through multiple academic scholarships–including the Arthur B. Levis Memorial Journalism Scholarship, the Clifford and Phyllis Chancey Scholarship, and SOU's Churchill Transfer Scholarship–while being named to the President’s List or Provost's List in each academic term at Southern Oregon University. Individually or collaboratively, these recognitions reflect the preparation, curiosity, accountability, and high standard that he brings to every assignment.
This combination places him in an uncommon position. His media education strengthens the creative, technical, and audience-facing aspects of sporting events, while his MBA studies expand his understanding of leadership, organizational strategy, marketing, finance, and operational decision-making. He is developing the ability to consider not only how an event is presented, but how it serves competitors, audiences, partners, clients, and the organization responsible for delivering it.
Furthermore, his approach is shaped by a professional background, with experience in sales, account management, client services, conflict management, emergency response and management, automotive service, and competitive motorsports. Those experiences have taught him how to work with people across different cultures and backgrounds, manage competing priorities, communicate through difficult situations, and remain composed when others depend on clear decisions.
Together, these experiences create a rare combination of media capability, business education, operational awareness, and people-centered service—one capable of offering extraordinary value to the right event, creative team, or entertainment firm.
